海外渡航記

สวัสดีครับ (SA-WAS-DEE-KRUB) is Thai style greeting. My name is Petch Alisanant, junior staff of radiation oncology unit from King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Bangkok Thailand. I received a great opportunity to learn about heavy ion treatment at Gunma University Heavy Ion Medical Center (GHMC) since March 2014. Almost one year that I have been here in Japan, there are so many events that make me happy and surprised.

This is my first time to visit carbon ion treatment center. Not only how advance of the system is, but also how complicated and dedicated works that all staffs have done are impressive. I do appreciate all GHMC staffs. Gunma University Hospital has excellent hospital information system that can access to all department data system. Beyond good healthcare and education service, GHMC has full capacity of research from basic science to clinical research. As aforementioned above, I guarantee that GHMC will has bright future.

About my training, I had opportunity to learn a lot from basic science through advanced treatment technique. I would like to thank Kawamura Sensei for very well organized all topic schedule for me. Most of my work was at planning room GHMC. This room seem to be never sleep and always busy by radiation oncologists, physicists and technologists. All of them come to this room from early morning until late night for only one goal to make the best treatment for their patients. Even Japanese people work so hard but good atmosphere is all around. All of them are my best teachers, colleagues and friends.

In this year, I also attended outside GHMC training courses. First one was IAEA 3 dimensional brachytherapy treatment for cervical cancer at Saitama University Hospital. The second was International Training Course on Carbon-ion Radiotherapy 2014 at NIRS and GHMC. The last was HIMAC International Symposium 2015 – 20th year Anniversary Event. Through all these training courses I gained a lot of knowledge and experience.

Beside working and learning, I traveled to many places in Japan such as Fuji Mt. summit, Hokkaido, Kyoto, Kobe and Osaka. Japanese culture was ancient and beautiful. Japanese have done excellent work for combination old culture with nowadays lifestyle. The most impressive in Japan is people, the Japanese are so kind, polite and always concerned about the others. Finally, I do appreciate all GHMC staffs for your dedicated work and warm hospitality.
